“I Am” – Documentary Recommendation
“I am” is one of the most honest documentaries that I have seen in the last year. It is a first person account by Hollywood director Tom Shadyac, as he questions everything he has and doesn’t have in life, and takes on the mission of traveling the world searching for answers and the true meaning of life, if there is one.
Shadyac has directed classic Hollywood comedies, like “Ace Ventura”, “Liar Liar”, and “Patch Adams”, among others. This documentary is a departure from his past films, but Shadyac is actually experiencing this departure in his real life, and the film feels almost like a part of his process of awakening and self definition, yet, it is still packed with funny moments, like when he finds out that most of the intellectuals and mystics he will interview have never even heard of most of his movies.
You can watch “I am” in Amazon On Demand. It might change your life.
